Audience Power - Essay

In this essay I would like to discuss my opinion and give my  full opinion and give a clearer understanding and interpretation on whether I agree with this powerful statement . I believe that Industries have  power due to the freedom and range of options they can choose from . Today I will focus on the list of ways : Film and Television , Print , Music Industry .

The print ( Newspaper/Magazines) has changed a lot throughout they years due to the power it has on affecting people's minds . One of the advantages for print is that it provides an increase of awareness and consciousness as the Target Audience will understand on what's going around them . This is important because The public and Target Audience would like to turn their attention into more interesting and useful things such as on what's going on around the world . Here I have a list of Industries that provide this , E.G : Metro - " Manchester Attacks" , Guardian - Central London / Westminster attacks . One of the disadvantages are that it can inject passive information in relation to Hypodermic Needle Theory . This is important because it shows then that the information can be quite dangerous as all people's thoughts are the same and can inject negative information to people's mind . This shows that the media (print) should not be messed with . This what is believed on how misleading the "print"is and how powerful it is in relation on what it can inject to people's brain . This shows that the News can take advantage of people much more easily and think the way they want them to think.

A lot of changes have occurred to the music industry whether it's financially and economically . One of the advantages are that it allows you to be more self-publicised as you will gain a lot of popularity due to the hits and views you have gained eg : Big Shaq-Man's not hot , STORMZY  - Shut up , Justin Bieber - Singing songs in his house and uploading it on YouTube also he published a song called "Baby" which has hit almost 2 Billion views on YouTube. This important because it shows that you don't have to be judged due to the potential of your ability in Education but can be judged on what you like . Many of these songs allow you to express on what makes you happy . Here is a list of the Music Industries : Spotify , Sound Cloud , Apple Music . One of the disadvantages for the Music Industries are that there is much more competition and constant battles between number of viewers and quality of songs . eg : KSI-little boy, which has hit almost 40 million views on YouTube , this was made 3 months ago due to the disagreements he had with another YouTuber ( W2S-Harry).
RICEGUM - "Every Night Sis " which has exceeded 100 million views on YouTube . The song was a made as a cuss to another YouTuber . This form of competition is called Diss Tracks where this is mainly evoking the idea of tension as that is what the Audience wants . This is a disadvantage because they are not focusing on their expressions about Music but just want to make the viewer satisfied in order to watch their content and gain views and become more economically successful . This shows that "niche" producers target their audience in a very detailed and efficient way and this is using demographics such as : Age , Gender .

Throughout the days of the development of technology the Film/television Industries have changed throughout the days due to the number of viewers and consumers it receives . I would like to talk about the advantages for Film/Television today to show you the magnificent sides of Film/Television industries . One of the advantages are that Film/Television allows you to catch up with what you have missed as some Industries are not "Live" Industries . E.G : BBC IPLAYER allows you to catch up with series such : Match Of The Day , Dumping Ground , Next Step . These are series who their Target Audience is between 13-15 (teenagers) . Another one is Netflix and this Industry allows you to catch up with "Main Stream" series  such as : Prison Break , Stranger Things , Walking Dead and another range of different series . This is important because this creates a increase of viewers and a variety of Audiences as that is the aim for TV Industries to become financially and economically successful . Beside talking about advantages I would like to turn your attention to the disadvantages of Film/Television Industries . One of the disadvantages are that some Industries require payment in order to watch them . E.G : Netflix -£ 8.99 a month in order to watch the channels you want to watch . Now TV -Have to be a member of  "sky" to gain Now TV , this is payment because when you gain an internet you usually have to pay for it  , Now TV is another way to be thrived into their company . This is important because this may evoke the idea of decrease of consumers and viewers and  also profit loss as the less consumers their are , the less economically successful the company will be . This shows that Industries have to create another way in order to convince the audience to consume their product.

In conclusion and stating all these points I agree with this statement . One reason for this is that now due to the money Industries have they will be able to upload a range of dispensable content to show  that they should be convinced to consume their products . This is because due to economic success ,many people will be thrived to the company as it has gained popularity and have a lot of viewers . Another way they do this; they represent themselves as a "Main Stream" company this is because then people will be more interested to consume this product and be entertained from it . Industries pick out their "Target Audience" in a very efficient and structured way . This is by them using demographics such as : Age , Gender . Income-To gain maximum amounts of money . These are the reasons at what extent I agree with this statement .
