5. Lara croft is a empowering feminist because she is denoted as the protagonist and the hero rather than being the less influential character in the game as these features subvert the stereotype of her female character .

'Magazines and advertising learner response'

WWW: "Some good comments about how representation of women has changed over time (q6)

  • good knowledge and understanding of codes/conventions of print magazines .

  • LR : For longer questions - give at least 2 examples per CSP to show you fully analysed the product in detail. (see q3)
  • Use media terminology to support your point/evidence not the other way round .
Q1: 1/1

Q2 : 1/1

Q3 : 3/8

Q4 : 2/2

Q5 : 3/6

Q6 : 8/12

3) Title Publication , Sell line ,Cover Line , Colour Scheme , Background .

4 .The price in the top third is bold and looks like a pound coin which
connotes the cheapness of the product.

 The use of numerous images as oppose to one, central image suggests
that the magazine offers a great deal of content and is good value for
money.

The use of a red colour scheme with white background could connote
the desire for the gossip, passion for celebrity or that the industry wants
the reader to stop and look.

 The title is in the top third to draw the eye of the reader and is ‘Reveal’
which suggests secrets being shared with the reader and celebrities
being exposed. The title uses a sans serif font which suggests informality
and reinforces the ‘gossiping’ cover lines and the magazine’s ethos of
acting like a ‘best friend’ to the reader.

5. The female boxer subverts the stereotype of men being more physically than women because men are usaully seen as doing more physical activities rather than women .

The black scientist wearing headscarf . This subverts the stereotype of black individuals not being able to study professional courses e.g Medicine , engineering , construction as usaully these aspects of the professional are usually tend to be dominated by white males and occasionally white females .

Another way the advert subverts stereotypes is by featuring a black Mp . Usually this position of power tends to be dominated by white females rather then black minorities groups in contemporary British Society and mainly in London .

6. In the essay I would like to talk about the features these 3 CSP's  use  to denote the representations of women and I will talk about the numerous ways they have represented their characters in the adverts .

The NHS represents women as a more feminine minority groups who hold to their own ends by illustrating and featuring them in physical sports e.g Female Boxer where she is illustrating her strength and this subverts the stereotype of men being more dominant then women as a male individual was not used in the boxing scene . Also femininity was used when a Black celebrity who is a female representing the black and Asian minorities , she uses the lines , "We are the sound of the streets , we are the voice of the people " to connote her femininity in the advert and this subverts the stereotype of women being less dominant than men .

The Omo advert  represents women as  isolated women right in the 19th century who are restricted of any stereotypical jobs as the women with the rolled up sleeve connotes that she is a housewife while the husband is out working and making money for the family . The advert also uses different  features e.g the cover line "Brightness added with Whiteness" to denote her class and status in society while her husband has a higher status in society and throughout time i believe the representation of women in OMO has not changed .

The galaxy advert convincingly denotes their positive view of women by using computer generated images to show Audrey Hepburn as a character of nostalgia and the advert subverts the stereotype of women being less dominant by taking the hat from the donor (Bus Driver) and this subverts the stereotype by featuring the bus driver as a donor .

Introduction to history of video games .

1.The graphics was really bad and old and the game did not feel as modern as it is at the current time .

2. They have evolved in to many different types of games e.g Pacman , Supermario , and the video game industry started to attract a wider range of audience throughout the world , mainly countries e.g America , Canada , England and more .

3. What most successful gaming companies have is a wide range of audience , high resolution gameplay which leads you away from the real world and also the criteria of the game is to bring exciting experience of gameplay and enjoyment .

4. Many games have many disturbing things eg , Strong language and sexism . This is not suitable for kids aged below 18 or 16 and this can be a problem for may gaming industries .

5. Fortnite is one of the best trending games going on at the moment with exciting high definition gameplay bringing the best of exciting gameplay towards their audiences . The way the game works is that 100 online players all around the world land on a island and gather loot to eliminate their enemies and the last man standing wins the game as many people call it a "victory Royale" .

6. reportedly , there are around 3,6 million players around the world playing this exciting , fantasmagorical game .

7. Its so popular due its creative narrative of the game however many games have used the same narrative eg , Pub-g and many more . The game adds high resolution gameplay and most off all it is free on all platforms meaning , PlayStation 4 , Xbox One , Pc , IOS 11 . The game makes money through a intergalactic currency called v-bucks allowing yourself to customize your character and buy different skins and v-bucks and also pickaxes .

8. it has a very bright, friendly visual style and it does not depict bloody violence. Like the Nintendo game Splatoon, it takes lots of the enjoyable gameplay concepts from more mature shooting games but places them in a non-threatening, non-realistic world. My sons call it “Call of Duty for kids”.
I agree with this statement because the game uses parental controls which allow them to control the games they play and the Pegi rating of 3 connotes the idea that many teenagers and primary school kids can use them .

My sons call it “Call of Duty for kids”.  I disagree with the statement because purchases on call of duty glamorize your character and effects your skill on the game by using a range of weopons to cause more harm to opposition .

1. Audrey Hepburn was a famous Holy wood star . She was a famous fashion icon and model. She died at the age of 63 .

2. The advertising agency used a version of Hepburn from 1953 , which was the year her film got hit and it was named Roman Holiday and the advertisers use the function of nostalgia by the setting of the advert as her film was filmed at Rome and the galaxy advert is using nostalgia as the setting of her best film to relate more to the audience and link back to the brand identity and use a sense of inter textuality and a furthermore the use of the narrative story at her best film .

3.One of the connotations of Audrey Hepburn is that she is more dominant and it subverts the stereotype of men being more dominant and superior towards the woman as the bus driver is the donor and the man is the hero and the woman is the heroine according to the props theory characters.

4. It provides the audience with a sight of slower pace of life and simpler things which is being shown in the establishing shot when the man and the woman get into the car and drive around the coast of Italy .

5. Inter texuality is when a media text is in reference with another media texts or products and uses a combination of both texts in one product or text .

6. The use the setting of Audrey Hepburn's hit movie to relate more to the audience as the setting of the advert is in Rome . Inter texuality is being used in reference with the setting between the movie Roman Holiday and the galaxy advert .

7. The prop characters are the donor (bus driver) , the heroine (Audrey Hepburn) , the hero (the guy that offered her a seat in the car).

8. The advert connotes the Todorov Theory , women is on the bus (equilibrium) , the apples fall down which then disrupts and delays her journey (disequilibrium) , the guy in the luxury car offers her a seat which then allows her to carry on her journey peacefully .

9 The representation I can find is when the stereotypes are being subverted when the women is at he back of the car relaxing while the man is driving for her . This shows how dominant females are in advert .
